I had the opportunity to spend time with my family (well a few members of my family) for Christmas. I was so excited to get out of town for a few days. Everything seemed to be going smooth, from getting to the airport in time, going through security, the plane ride and evening renting the car. I had absolutely no complaints.
Christmas eve was going great, catching up on old times, laughing, wrapping presents, cooking, etc. Christmas day was even better, as I received gifts that I was not expecting, giving gifts that I was not sure that anyone would like, eating delicious food and drinking a few tasty wines. Just enjoying family time with laughter, watching movies and more eating.
The day after Christmas was more shopping as the ladies and I were looking for sales, needless to say that we found some great buys. We couldn’t wait to get back home to have some leftovers, along with more wine and family time.
It wasn’t until that Monday when the family wanted to do some house shopping, because a storm was coming in a few days. Although another family member is usually the “taxi driver” for the house, I decided that I would take everyone to the grocery stores, it was not like I had anything else to do. That shopping outing suddenly went sour – attitudes were all over the place, everyone went their separate ways, the car ride was intense and so on and so on. There were several stores on the line up but after the second store certain people were ready to go home. So, we headed home, where the coldness in the air continued, a different scene from just a few days earlier. At that point I was so ready to go home, but my plane didn’t leave until 4ish the following day, better believe that I was at the airport, 2 – 2 1/2 hours early.
I said all that to say, I wonder if the Pandemic has a significant effect on some people attitudes! I had never heard one of my family members swearing so much, in my entire life, but during my visit I soon realized that was a major part of her vocabulary. She’s the same person that change the atmosphere for the house shopping and in the car. Seems as I had run into a “Karen” in my own family. That’s how fast things had changed!
PEOPLE THIS IS 2022, WITH SO MUCH GOING ON IN THE WORLD, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT ANYONE IS THINKING, GOING THROUGH, RATHER IT BE MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SPIRITUALLY, ETC. IF YOU FINDYOUR SELF GOING THROUGH, PLEASE TALK TO SOMEONE. I’VE FOUND THAT GETTING THINGS OFF OF MY CHEST/MIND, BY EITHER WRITING THEM DOWN AND/OR LITTERALLY TALKING THINGS OUT, HAS KEPT ME SANE.
PEACE AND BLESSINGS!
