Scaling through 20/21

Twenty twenty took all of us by surprise. I was totally confused when my employer came to my desk and asked if I had Wi-Fi at home? With a puzzling look on my face, I said yes. In which she replied, okay – you’ll be in the first round to get a laptop.

I’ve never had a career where I was offered to work-from-home. So I was super excited that I didn’t have to drive into work, battling traffic, going to in-person meeting, etc.

After several months of working from home, it became apparent that work-from-home will not be as exciting as I hoped. It was too much sadness happening in the world: All the people dying from COVID-19, the George Floyd death, among others, the marches, the riot, having to use mask, food and toiletries shortages, the list goes on. On top of that, we were not able to see or hug on love ones in person. For me, that last one hit the hardest.

I’m still working from home and since it’s been almost two years since I’ve stepped foot in the office, I do not look forward to going back. Unfortunately, there is a new virus on the rise and who knows what that will encounter.
